Michael is a Dean's List student of finance at the Fowler College of Business at San Diego State University. Around campus, Michael participates in the Finance and Investment Society, the Trading and Investment Group, and the Student Veteran Organization.

Prior to being the first in his family to pursue an undergraduate degree, he spent five years serving in the United States Marine Corps. Holding various ranks and roles worldwide, he ultimately found himself leading 75 service members as a Sergeant. Michael has received numerous decorations for his leadership and management.

Upon teaching himself the ins and outs of personal finance in the military, he would set his eyes on a career in finance after the service. Today, Michael is particularly interested in investment banking, private equity, asset management, and trading alike. More specific interests include the technology, biotechnology, and energy sectors.

When not studying and working at University Growth Fund, Michael volunteers as a full-time trainer and mentor at a non-profit organization that places ADI accredited service dogs with disabled military veterans and first responders.

In his free time, Michael enjoys hiking the San Jacinto and Cascade mountain ranges, listening to jazz, and reading non-fiction books. He is an avid appreciator of the arts, especially architecture and industrial design.
